I have spent the last 14 years in the military. I was gifted a Braun the year I joined. I just purchased my third. So that's an average of 7 years that they're lasting me. I shave at least 5 days a week. My razors have gone in deployments. They've spent weeks in the field without chargers or cleaners. They've traveled all over the world with me on vacation and being stationed outside the US.My Brauns have always given me a close, smooth shave. The foils that are supposed to last 180 days last me multiple years before they start to pull hairs. Some simple internet searches can show you how to save by making your own cleaning fluid. They're nearly indestructible, and I will never own another electric razor. Yes, it's an expensive up front cost, but how much are you going to spend on something not as good or normal razors over the next 7 years? (Note that after 7 years, neither razor died...I just felt it was time to spend a bit to get one with a new foil/cutter, battery, and charging station that was clean and new)
I have used a rotary razor for decades, owned a few. I used them because I wanted my face to be used to it enough so that I could go without a regular razor when water wasn't available (when traveling sometimes). But they never shaved well enough to use alone on a regular basis. I decided to give this razor a try after reading a professional review and because Braun offered a good return policy; so I figured it was worth the risk. I know my face would need a couple of weeks to get used to a different way of shaving. Wow, this is amazing. From the first shave with this razor several weeks ago, I have not picked up my regular razor. This simply shaves better. I can easily get around my nose, up close to my ears, and everywhere in between. My skin is less irritated and looks better throughout the day. I have always needed to get a quick touch up before going out in the evening, and this does it beautifully. The charging and cleaning system are great as well. I usually put mine in the cleaner once a week, and that seems sufficient. I'm not sure what the 900 series offers that this one doesn't for almost twice the price. I'm glad I didn't spend the money because I couldn't get that much better results than what I'm getting with this.
One of the smartest investments my wife made for me. Purchased July 21 2012 and has been used near-daily. Used at home, vacations, and I travel often (always with me). The battery lasts longer than I notice, I have a thick Mediterranean beard which it will easily cut through 2 days stubble, and I’ve bought 2 or 3 new blades over the years.Except for some minor wear on the rubber side of handle, it looks great. Also, I use the cleaner 3-4 times a week (there are alternatives to buying the expensive cleaning cartridges) and it continues like a champ - it uses the old heat technology to dry the razor - I’ve read Braun changed this for the worse.Mine was made in Germany - not sure where they’re now manufactured. Can’t recommend it enough.
I have been shaving with a blade for decades. I have tried an electric razor a couple of times over the years and have been disappointed with the shave and returned to the blade. As I have gotten older my facial hair has become harder to shave, especially on my chin and mustache area. It had taken me longer and longer to get a close shave, and never could get a close shave on those areas. I decided to try a Braun foil shaver to get a quicker shave with less irritation. Before dropping the big bucks I first tried the Braun M60b, at only $16, to test it out. I was impressed so decided to buy this. I am getting a closer shave than with the blade in much less time without any irritation. I will never use a blade again. If you are considering switching from a blade you might want to try the M60b first to test it out. Keep in mind that this will give you an even better shave than the M60. I have put the M60 in the glove compartment as a back-up.
So I have just received delivery of this Braun Series 7 790cc electric razor, I could not wait to use it, and to my complete amazement, I can say that I get as close if not closer shave than I do with my razor blade. I have very sensitive skin, this did not bother me one iota and I did not even use shaving cream, a dry shave! I have just ran it through the Clean & Renew solution, which I gather not only cleans and disinfects the foils, but also acts as a lubricant. I am very excited about never again having to go through the process of using shaving cream, a brush and having to tolerate and cut myself with a new blade. Highly recommended.
