This replaces an identical model I used for over eight years (That Brain shaver is still working, but the pop-up trimmer gave up the ghost). Compared to the previous 3 series, this adds LEDs to let you know the battery needs to be charged soon, and remind you when to change the foil cartridge. It no longer comes with a stand-up charger (the old one is compatible). Two other changes are the protective cap has been changed so you can’t accidentally turn the shaver on while it’s in your luggage, and the color of the grip. The blue is very bright; not my first choice, but I suppose the designers figured if hybrid BMWs have bright blue accents their shaver should, too. Which reminds me: I would have bet in eight years manufacture of this product would have moved to China; not so, I’m happy to report it’s still made in Germany.
Between myself and my two son's we've bought and used at least 4 different models of Braun shaver in the last 20 years. I purchased this model because the batteries finally stopped charging in my previous one. Batteries and board cost near as much as this new model. This is my third Braun, and this thing cuts better than my last two models. It uses the same foil as my last model, but somehow cuts deeper/smoother. I even put the old foil on to test, this thing cuts great. I don't have a heavy beard, so I can go weeks without charging. I bought a second unit for my youngest son, because his wasn't cutting all the best either, and a new foil had no effect.I've traveled domestic and international with this unit. It holds a charge great, so i typically leave my charger at home.Just plain a great value.
Was formerly using a Braun 8000 series from 2002-3. The detail trimmer stopped functioning(believe the GF dropped it), but good riddance; this works better in all ways. Lighter, easier to hold, no nicks, 100% water proof, and still made in Germany. I rinse with the head with warm water right after I shave, then I rinse with a couple squirts of 91% iso alcohol. The water doesn't get it clean alone, but a bottle of iso is about 2.50 at the Walmart/Target and will last 6 months. Dont fuss with the silly shaver base. Too much money for results that can be achieve with some 91% isopropyl.
This shaver works well and gives a decent shave for the cost of the shaver. It lasts just over a week on a full charge but the only thing is that I never get the three green lights after a charge but only two. I do not know if that affects the length of how long it stays charged or not as in the manual it says it should light up all three green lights. I had a panasonic shaver before this and it eventually would not hold a charge after about a year and a half so I will see if this one is better or not.
I've been using electric shavers for a long time - Remington, Norelco, Panasonic and Braun. This is my third Braun, and the best to date. Wet & Dry shavers are the only way to go, and Braun offers a wide range of models. This is one of their less expensive models, but make no mistake about it: It's powerful and yields a great shave. I'm very happy with this purchase.Whether shaving dry, or in the shower with a dab of Cremo shave cream, this shaver performs admirably. There's no need to experiment with other brands: Braun is the best.
